Four questions to the curator Regina Tetens.
Q: The motto of the playground is Time to Change Perspective. How do you realize this in an artistic way?
A: The world changes at a tremendous pace and our subjective perception determines how we perceive this and how we interpret it. Continually every day life asks us to rethink our perception of things and to readjust our perspective from where we see things. This happens in many ways and often it takes quite some time and a new point of view. The playground puts this into a playful setting.
The artists themselves ask about a certain perspective to be put into the center of their work. But they also come to the conclusion that reality is simply too rich to be reduced to one point of view.
Q: Where there special challenges during the realization?
A: We want to take to visitors with us, no matter from which point of view they start when they enter the exhibition. Some people come to experience something entirely new, others seek answers to certain questions and some visitors just want to relax and have a good time. All of them should have the opportunity to find their experience and to take it home with them – also as photographs.
Q: What can visitors expect on this year’s playground in Cologne?
A: Many different views and perspectives… – and works of art, which challenge these.
Q: What kind of hint can you give visitors for their stay at the exhibition?
A: Take your time for the tour and collect as many impressions and photographs as you can.
